"Bringing big names to a small town"

How it all started...
"Bringing Big Names to a Small Town..."
Music at Stow was established in 2014, when a group of music-loving locals led by the late great Brian Honess, joined together with the aim of ‘bringing big names to a small town’.
The organisation formally became a non-profit charity in 2019.
Considering that the work is still done by a small group of enthusiastic unpaid volunteers, we like to think that we achieve a great deal. Our good name in the community proves this, and we are grateful for the support of many local people and busin-esses, especially through the Friends of Music at Stow programme.
The setting, in the picturesque Cotswolds landscape of the Gloucestershire countryside, lends a perfect backdrop to a festival which brings world-class artists right into the heart of the local community. Since the festival began, we have been proud to welcome artists from a broad range of genres – jazz, rock, folk, soul, Latin, classical - such as The Manfreds, Georgie Fame, Geno Washington, Toyah, The Searchers, Andy Fairweather Low, Jacqui Dankworth, Stacey Kent, Colin Blunstone, Fairport Convention, The Darius Brubeck Quartet, Sambossa, Catrin Finch, The London Tango Quintet, The Animals, Raphael Wallfisch, Craig Ogden and The Tedesca Quartet.
We stage performances in the wonderful acoustic of the 12th century St Edward’s Church, just off Stow-on-the-Wold's historic town square with echoes of the dramatic English Civil War, and in the smaller and more intimate St Edward’s Hall nearby.

A Popular Centre for the Arts
We are proud to be the only established provider of "live" music in Stow-on- the-Wold, an ideal location for artistic events of every kind. With its wonderful range of art galleries, inns and restaurants, the town attracts thousands of visitors from around the world.
We hope you will keep finding reasons to come back to our lovely town, as well as for our concerts!
